Hello Huskies! The Northeastern Club Tennis Team is back again for what should be another awesome semester. All new players interested in joining the team must attend one of the two information sessions offered.
Welcome back everyone! Hope you all had a great break. Just wanted to let you know that our mandatory meeting for this semester will take place during the week of the 13th. Once there is an exact location and time it will be posted. Also tryouts will take place the week of the 20th. See you all soon!
This week our team hosted our annual Beanpot Tournement at Weymouth Tennis Club. UNH, BC, UVM, Tufts, Northeastern and Brown competed for the top spot in a World Team Tennis format. Though Northeastern was not victorious overall we came in a respectable 3rd and had a lot of good laughs and pizza. Thanks to all for coming and we will see you next year!
This weekend 8 of our players went to Wisconsin to represent Northeastern in the annual Badger Classic. The team included Felix Hasselberg, Adrian Davila, Nick Goralka, Roberto Lopez, Yianni Glavas, Megan Kasetty, Casey Geddes, Tatiana Bujnoch and Katie Gilligan. On Saturday they played Northwestern, University of Michigan and University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point. They defeated Northwestern and lost a tight match to Michigan. To clinch a spot in the platinum bracket (the highest of four brackets) Northeastern could not lose more than 5 games in their match against Wisconsin. Northeastern pulled it off and earned a spot in the top bracket! On Sunday they won their first round match against Purdue. In the semis they lost a tough match to Illinois and then lost to Marquette. In the end Northeastern came in 4th out of 32 teams! Congrats to all the players and keep up the good work!

Mollye Lipton, Tanya Welch, Liz Kadow, Sara Usher, Diana Morel, Connor Shumate, Nick Goralka, Dominic Baimonte, Dan Sobel, Nick Chen Schmidt and Michael Tobiasz played against students from Fairfield University, Clark University and Sacred Heart University. Out of these five brackets we made it to five finals and won four! Liz was the women's champion, Dominic and Tanya were the mixed doubles champions, Dan and Connor defeated Michael and Nick Chen Schmidt in the men's doubles final, Dominic and Nick Goralka were the men's singles finalists and Mollye and Tanya lost a tight match in a tiebreaker in the women's doubles final.
